*** Bachelor’s degree in business administration, healthcare, or a relevant field and 2 years work experience in a business, professional or health care environment, including 1 year experience in a Compliance, HIPAA, Privacy, Education and Training, Business Associate Agreements, Case Investigations, IT Security or equivalent related fields is REQUIRED***
Under the supervision of the Director of Compliance, the analyst will manage, develop, implement and monitor policies, procedures, processes, training, corrective action plans, incident remediation and overall operations to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations affecting the Medical System and its Affiliates. Additionally, the Analyst will work collectively with Affiliate management and other personnel to ensure that compliance initiatives are implemented at all UMMS affiliates.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Serves as case investigator and performs follow-up with affiliate personnel on HIPAA, Privacy, Identity Theft and Fraud complaints and inquiries received through the Compliance Hotline, internal reporting, EMR Monitoring system, or other reporting and monitoring mechanisms.
2. Collaborates with IT Security, Hospital Privacy Officers, HIM staff or Operational staff to investigate, mitigate and resolve HIPAA, Privacy, and Identity Theft and Fraud related incidents.
3. Develops closing summary reports for case investigations and performs follow through to determine implementation of corrective action plans.
4. Monitors data and trends to determine deficiencies and/or areas for further investigation and provides recommendations.
5. Manages the Business Associate Agreement (BAA) process for the Medical System
6. Negotiates and approves Business Associate Agreements
7. Collaborates with OGC, IS&T Security, Risk Management and business owners for Business Associate Agreement contract negotiations
8. Serves as a Liaison to Hospital Privacy Officers and IT Security Officers on HIPAA, Privacy, IT Security and Identity Theft and Fraud.
9. Develops related HIPAA Privacy policies and collaborates with applicable business areas to implement across the System.
10. Develops, Identifies and delivers related HIPAA, Privacy and Identify Theft and Fraud education and training opportunities
11. Provides Compliance and HIPAA related guidance on IT related projects

What You Need to Be Successful:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, healthcare, or a relevant field.
2 years work experience in a business, professional or health care environment, including 1 year experience in a Compliance, HIPAA, Privacy, Education and Training, Business Associate Agreements, Case Investigations, IT Security or equivalent related fields required.
Experience with data analysis tools and techniques are preferred.
